How to Avoid Injury While Exercising

Summertime will be here in just a couple more months, and it is the perfect time of the year to get outside and get some exercise! Exercise is a great thing for your body and mood, but if you aren’t careful, exercise could easily lead to injury. At Integrated Physical Medicine, we provide chiropractic care in Evansville that can help you to be your best and healthiest self, and a big part of that is prevention. That is why our chiropractor has come up with the following list of tips to help you avoid injury while exercising:

  • Know your limits – We are all incredibly different, and while someone else may be able to push farther and harder than you, it doesn’t mean that you should try to keep up. Listen to your body and cater your workout to you! Only you truly know your limits so don’t let anyone else try to push you too far.
  • Take it slow – You can’t go from spending all of your time on the couch to running a marathon, so don’t try. Take it slow and ease into your new exercise routine.
  • Warm up – When you warm up, you are preparing your body for the workout ahead. When you take the time to warm up before your workout, you are less likely to get injured.
  • Consult an expert – A good personal trainer will know how to ease your body into a good routine and push you a safe amount. They will also most likely have advice for you on how to recover the proper way.
