How Do I Find the Best Chiropractor Near Me?

Chiropractors exhibit a spectrum of competency, professionalism, techniques, and approaches. This can make it challenging to pick the best chiropractor near you.

A good place to start is by examining an office’s Google reviews. What do patients have to say?

The Best Chiropractor Will Be Covered by Insurance

Next, go to your insurance company’s website to see which chiropractors on your list accept insurance from your company and confirm they are preferred providers. Believe it or not, some chiropractors do not accept insurance! If you are still unsure, call the office and ask them if they are preferred providers with your insurance. By selecting a chiropractor near you that is a preferred provider for your insurance company, you are guaranteed the least expensive treatment costs. Some chiropractors advertise low prices for cash patients because they do not accept insurance. However, in most cases, using your insurance at a preferred provider will give you the lowest costs.

We are a preferred provider and in-network with virtually every insurance plan, including Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, Medicare, and too many others to name.

Important Questions for Finding the Best Chiropractor

Next, here are some questions to ask yourself, and if something is important to you, I’ve provided some relevant questions to ask a prospective chiropractor near you to see if they may be a good fit:

Is it important to have your pain’s cause properly diagnosed and managed? If yes, ask the prospective chiropractic offices:

  • “Are your doctors board certified in a chiropractic specialty?” (These doctors underwent several years of residency training over and above their chiropractic school training. There are currently only TWO chiropractors in Evansville that are board certified, and IPM has one!)
  • “Do you have a digital radiology suite in your office?” (IPM does!)
  • “Do you order and interpret lab work?” (IPM does!)
  • “Do you have privileges at any local hospitals?” (IPM does at all of them!)
  • “Do you have referral relationships with neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, and rheumatologists locally and at Spine Centers of Excellence like IU Medical School, Washington University Medical School, University of Louisville, and Vanderbilt University? (IPM does!)
  • “Do you develop customized, personalized care plans for each patient and provide them with documentation explaining what those plans are, how long it should take to get well, and how much it will cost? (IPM does!)

Is it important to you that the chiropractor can treat your condition comprehensively? If you want more than just adjustments for your care (believe me, YOU DO!), ask the following questions:

  • Do you have licensed massage therapists on staff” and “Do you bill insurance for manual therapy services?” (IPM does!)
  • “Are you licensed to perform acupuncture?” (IPM is!)
  • “Are you licensed to perform dry needling?” (IPM does!)
  • “Do you have dedicated spinal decompression facilities?” (IPM does!)
  • “How big is your rehabilitation gym, and what equipment do you use?” (IPM’s gym is large with all the cool toys and a dedicated staff supervising your progress!)
  • “Do you have a class 4 LASER?” (This is the latest technology for treating pain and speeding up healing times. IPM has one!)
  • “Do you perform gait analysis, and if so, how?” (Your feet can greatly impact the rest of your body. At IPM, we have a 3D digital sensor system and treadmill to assess your feet and gait patterns to see if you require corrective orthotics for a total resolution of your complaints.)
  • “Do you have braces on hand?” (Offices should carry many supportive and corrective braces for the spine, pelvis, wrists, neck, knees, feet, etc. IPM does!)
  • “What other modalities and services do you offer” (In addition to the above, IPM offers therapeutic cupping, ultrasound, and electric stimulation modalities. We also carry a convenient array of home care products, including hot and cold packs, pain relieving gels, and balms. We are also proud to be the only tristate office with J-Tech equipment which allows us to accurately measure patients’ strength and mobility to assess disability in personal injury cases.)

Is it important that the office uses the latest and best equipment and technology?

  • “Do you have Cox treatment tables?” (Cox is the most widely researched and important technique for treating many painful spinal conditions and disc injuries. These treatment tables are quite expensive, so many offices skimp and cannot provide this service. IPM has four of them at our Evansville chiropractic office!)
  • “Do you have private treatment rooms? (Some chiropractors treat their patients altogether in one room. This “cattle-call” style may not bother you, but you may prefer privacy during your treatments. IPM is 100% private treatment rooms!)
  • “Do you use electronic medical records and have an online patient portal?” (IPM does!)
  • “Can I phone, text, or email you at my convenience?” (You can with IPM! Call us or text us at 812-401-2140. Email us any questions.
